Andrew Thomas Monarch
For State House Representative - District 58
Shelby County, KY

All I want out of life is a community that can support a future for my daughter and a decent retirement for her grandparents. A future where politics isn't a career, but a term limited service focused on improving the lives of everyday Kentuckians.
But the harsh reality is we're being priced out of the opportunity to even fight for that future. Salaries just aren't keeping up while families are focused on surviving instead thriving. Grocery & Utility bills continue to skyrocket, a trip to the Doctor might as well come with a loan application and the cost of a new home is entirely out of reach for anyone under 30.
We've simply let wealthy career politicians go unchecked for too long and it's clear they've stopped listening. They've placed corporate party interests over people's lives and enough is enough.

So as the first Democratic nominee for State House 58 in two elections and a 34-year old Dad who has to work for a living, I'm here to build a future with balance, common sense & accountability. It's time to get the government back to working for the people.

The Actual Haps of Shelby County, Kentucky
Healthcare
Our local hospital has been operating at a loss of about $4 million a year since 2021 and from July to Nov. 2025, has lost more than $3 million - All while the average cost of health insurance sits around 8% of our median household income. Y'all, that's not going to work. Access to specialized care is only going to shrink and we need to act, now.
Education
Public education is still under attack all while AI & automation are changing the workforce faster than we can keep up. Instead of focusing on ways to get public money into private institutions or trying to convince us "inclusion" is a bad thing, we need to focus supporting our educators & maximizing accessibility for every income level and modernizing our programs .The resources we put into education should matches today’s economy, not yesterday’s talking points.

Cost of Living
The bottom line is we're pricing our kids out of a future and the cost for basic is dramatically outpacing pay raises. Since 2020, Federal Reserve Economic Data shows typical home prices in Shelby County have increased by more than 43% .Grocery prices have risen by roughly 28% and healthcare costs up to 15% of median household income (if you're healthy). Meanwhile - wages are flat with only an increase of 1-2%.
