ANDREW MONARCH
For State House Representative
KY HD-58 (Shelby County)
My friends call me Drew, and I'm here to work for you.
That's because this campaign isn't about playing partisan politics or making some sort of a career out of public service. It's about how to make your life a little more affordable, protecting the things KY families depend on, and building a future our kids can actually afford.
As a 34-year-old working-class father and an eighth-generation Kentuckian, my focus is firmly on giving everyday people of a genuine voice in Frankfort. That's why we don't accept a dime of corporate sponsored PAC money.
I'm eager for the opportunity to fight for the same public schools I entrust with my child, take on the corporate influence infecting our policies, and to prevent Data Centers from taking our tax dollars just so they can harm our land & water.
For two election cycles, Shelby County voters haven’t had a choice in who represents them in Frankfort. Today, I’m proud to offer them one.
**Election Day is November 3rd, 2026**
Lower costs for Working Families
We're ready to budget for relief on the rising cost of gas, housing, groceries, utilities, and other basic needs.
Fighting Corporate Influence
We don't accept Corporate PAC money and we're ready to fight private interests in Frankfort. It's time to put in real community protections on data centers and make sure Kentucky families aren’t left paying the price Big Tech's bottom line.
Keeping AI In Check
Technology is moving faster than classrooms & regulations can keep up. We need a modern curriculum that addresses the negative impact AI is having on our youth while protecting & training our workforce at large
Accessible & Healthcare
Protect Medicaid, cut unnecessary barriers to care, modernize infrastructure, and make sure families can get the treatment they need without being buried in costs.
Strong Public Schools
Support the same public schools I trust with my own child and make sure our teachers and students have the resources they need.

The Actual Haps of Shelby County
Zoning & Planning
Shelby County is trying to grow with legislators that make it harder for folks to hold Government accountable. We deserve a simple path to follow the money, track the decisions, and have a say in our Community moves forward. Yet In the last 6 years our GOP supermajority has passed HB 195 and HB 534 - which moved public notices away from the places people are most likely to see them and deeper into online government-controlled systems. Then they passed HB 312 & HB 520 that added new hurdles to open record requests, extended response time, and made it easier for agencies to flatly withhold records.
Healthcare
Our local hospital has been operating at a loss of $4 million a year since 2021.
From July to Nov. 2025, has lost more than $3 million - All while the average cost of health insurance sits around 15% of our median household income and rising. Y'all, that's not going to work. Access is trending in the wrong direction and only going to shrink when Medicare & Medicaid cuts start going into effect in late 2026.
Education
We can't grow responsibly as a community if our schools can't handle more students. Not to mention that AI & automation is changing life as we know it. In the 2026 budget, KY kept SEEK funding flat while fuel cost alone tripled. Instead they focused on finding ways to give public money to private schools. We're going to have to fight to ensure every child has access to a quality & free education and prepare our kids for a rapidly changing environment. It's time for resources & curriculum matching today’s economy & operations costs - not yesterday’s talking points.

Cost of Living
The bottom line is we're pricing our kids out of a future and the cost for basic is dramatically outpacing pay raises. Since 2020, Federal Reserve Economic Data shows typical home prices in Shelby County have increased by more than 43% .Grocery prices have risen by roughly 28% and healthcare costs up to 15% of median household income (if you're healthy). Meanwhile - wages are flat with only an increase of 1-2%.
